What is KWC all about?

Knights for Wildlife Conservation (KWC) is a registered student organization at the University of Central Florida.

Knights for Wildlife Conservation (KWC) inspires student involvement in conserving the habitats of wild animals and plant life through volunteer activities. By raising awareness in the community, we educate the general public of the dangers presented to both local and global environments. We strive to empower others to make an impact on the environment and their surrounding communities.

We share networking opportunities to prepare students for continued involvement upon graduation. Bettering the Earth begins with a unified effort that grows into a global movement.

The Story Behind Our Logo...

We picked critically endangered or endangered animals (if a recognizable endangered animal was not available, we chose vulnerable animals) from every continent and other significant regions around the world.

Another goal for our logo was to choose animals that could be considered flagship species or are otherwise recognizable. We think it is important to be representative of diversity, inclusivity and endangered animals worldwide in order to bring more awareness to many species.

Below is a list of animals we have chosen to be apart of our logo. Although it is not pictured, we have also selected the Reindeer as our animal to represent the Arctic.

Javan Rhino - Asia

Iberian Lynx - Europe

Western/Eastern Lowland Gorilla - Africa

Red Wolf - North America

Giant Otter - South America

Australian Sea Lion - Australia

Rockhopper Penguin - Antarctica

Whale Shark - Ocean

The Red Crowned Crane was also included in between the spacing in KWC’s name on the logo. The Red Crowned Crane is known for being the most rare yet adored crane being a symbol of luck, longevity, fidelity and happiness. These are all qualities we wish for this club.

In light of the severity of the 2019-2020 Australian Bushfire season, KWC has decided to donate to the Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund, which is sponsored by Zoos Victoria. This organization provides medical care to animals affected by the fires.

Thank you to our members who have chosen to support this initiative!
